Happy 4th of July!

Yesterday was our nations Independence Day. Jenna spent the weekend at Nana's and I'm so proud of her because they were able to get her to hold onto a sparkler! (She is very scared of fireworks). And we learned last night at our neighborhood firework show, that her little sister Lexie is also scared of fireworks. Lexie stayed under her blankie, in my arms, with her hands tightly wrapped around my neck...cringing every time a firework went off. Both Jenna and Lexie actually get their fear of loud noises from my mother, who as a child would run to her mom even during thunder storms. My mom grew out of it, so hopefully so will they.

Eric is in charge every year (he started last year, taking over since my Dad did it for years and is burnt out). This year we were thankful to our friend Ryan for letting us use his pick up truck to haul the fireworks. Thanks Ryan! Ryan's brother Jason was also there- and Jason's wife Ashton (they were just married on Friday, hence the groom shirt Jason was sporting) and Ryan's girlfriend Anna (who is one of my very best friends) sat with Lexie and I on the other side of the field. There was a stray dog that joined our little party, too and we found out through playing with her that she can sit, lay, shake, and speak on command... somebody must have been missing her very much! We hope she found her way home last night. None of us could afford to take her with us, unfortunately. Eric, being that he is supervisor of Greenville County Animal Care Services promised that he would look out for her in case someone turned her in. We're sure someone out there is looking for her!
