Jenna loves the zoo...however... she is, and has always been, the kind of person to look at an animal exibit for a few seconds, maybe a full minute if we are lucky, then say "k, seen it, let's go"... and if Jenna is your zoo date, you will walk through the zoo and be done with it in less than 30 minutes to an hour. Jenna's goal was ultimately - get to the end, get ice cream, and play on the playground until I am forced to leave.

Lexie is an entirely different story however. Now, I love animals, but I admit she gets this from her daddy. Lexie absolutely LOVES animals. Any animal, of any specie, is Lexie's favorite. And Lexie would study each individual animal, she would want to spend several minutes at each exibit just having the time of her life! Let me be the first to tell you that having one child itching to move quickly, and the other begging to stay just another minute or two with every animal in the zoo... It is QUITE the experience!
SOOOO.... Note for future zoo trips...it's either one child at a time, or someone has to come with me so they can either run through the zoo with Jenna, or spend quality time with each animal at Lexie's speed.
What was really strange...was the animals seemed to like Lexie too. The Giraffe actually walked right up to her, as close as his habitat would allow him to. One of the pythons slithered right over to where Lexie was standing and climbed up that side of the cage as if to greet her. And one of the bird cages, when I lifted Lexie up so she could see- the bird flew all the way across the cage and perched right in front of her! It was probably just coincidence, but then again...Eric was the only one at the shelter able to work with the red-tailed hawk (it was so calm and trusting in Eric's arms...with everyone else, it was very upset and hard to control)... there's just something special about my hubby Eric and our sweet baby Lexie.
