Jenna the Magician!

Jenna turned 5 years old on March 20th, and we had her party this past Saturday the 27th. Jenna got everything she wanted in presents- and had the best day of her life! (It could only have been made better if Nana and Grandpop had been able to come- everyone please say a prayer that Grandpop Robert McCarter gets better soon! We love him and missed seeing them!)

For those that don't know, Jenna has been completely in love with the art of magic for about a little over a year now. She is constantly trying to learn new tricks, and even got a trick from Santa Claus this past year (she's pretty good- I'll have to video tape her doing it and post it sometime!).

Anyways- I happen to know where Santa found the trick Jenna got and I checked it out on my lunch break a few months back. I met Magician Gene Burton and hired him to perform at Jenna's party. I had know idea at that time...just how much magic he would bring.

First off- even the CAKE was magical! My friend and co-worker, Lindsay Phillips, made the cake, and she has INCREDIBLE talent! (And a few mom's interested in paying her to make their cakes! Way to go Lindsay!) The cake was not only really cool and beautiful artisticly, it was very good to eat too! And from someone who isn't much of a cake eater... I ate a piece, and I am here to tell you Lindsay is pretty darn amazing at baking a cake! YUMMY!! Thank you so much Lindsay...that cake was AWESOME!!

Secondly - Stole part of my centerpiece idea from Becky Cooper (another friend and co-worker) and made the following centerpieces! There were 6 total- I used Becky's circle cutter (which, loved it, now I want my own ha ha), poster boards, and some fake candles that Becky gave me. I used the circles cut from the poster board and some pink and white streamers to decorate around the candles for some pretty cool centerpieces. (I'm pretty proud of myself- they turned out so cute! and I only paid a total of $10 for all of it! (would have been more if I had to buy the circle cutter...Thanks again Becky for letting me borrow your circle cutter AND your cute idea!

And lastly...but certainly not the least... Mr. Gene Burton brought over an hours worth of magic to my daughter's birthday party. He put on a spectacular show...and the best part...Jenna's smile has never been bigger. He let her do some of the magic... and every time she pulled off a trick, everyone would cheer and Jenna's face- my camera just couldn't catch that look in her eyes... I can't even begin to describe it- but I haven't seen that big of a smile on that little girl in quite some time, and it absolutely made the entire day worth every single penny. AND Magician Gene gave Jenna $15 to spend in his Magic Shop...so she'll have more tricks to add to her collection- maybe soon Jenna will have a full show to do in our living room! YIKES! ha ha! Thank you Gene- you have an amazing talent, and Jenna LOVED you! And the other kids did too- Gene was such a hit, the kids were into it and yelling and smiling- soooo funny! Every "WHOA!" and every "COOL!" was just over the top amazing!

One more thing - The only balloon at the party was a blue balloon, tied to Jenna's chair with a picture of Tinkerbell and it said "Have a magical Birthday!"...Jenna DID indeed have a very magical birthday (Everyone at her party did ha ha)...but you know what birthdays do, they make my baby girl think about her very best friend Riley. Jenna accidentally dropped the string and her balloon got away... she cried some, but stopped crying after only a minute and looked at my mom and said "Riley will catch it right?"...and we all teared up. And watched as the balloon disappeared into the heaven's. We miss you Riley- and birthdays seem to always remind us of you- (Jenna had a rough day about a week ago, and completely at random - on the way home from school, said "Momma, I just wish Riley could be at my party".... I assured her - Riley will be there...and I felt that he was!)
